Welcome to the North East of England.
National Glass Centre in Sunderland.

Sunderland, National Glass Centre, beautiful glass bowl July 2007.
We thoroughly enjoyed the day that we spent in and around the National
Glass Centre, which is situated on the Wear River. It was so interesting
to watch young artists work through the medium of glass, and to see
the history of glass come alive.
The
roof is made of super toughened glass that we walked across, our minds
having to trust in the brilliance of man that we would not fall through
it. There is a such a delightful display of glass, both antique and
contemporary, that a day pspent here was an absolute delight. We watched
artists creating objects from glass and pottery, and saw leaded lights
creations, and then walked amongst the various contemporary glass displays.
We later enjoyed a meal in the resturant, and then we walked off along
the River Wear, past Sunderland University, and up to the Tree of Life
sculpture.
